VJ Edgecombe (30 pts, 10 reb), Tyrese Maxey (29 pts, 9 ast) and the 76ers showed their mettle in Boston, earning a 111-97 win over the Celtics to the tie the series at 1-1 in tonight’s opening contest.
Scoot Henderson (31 pts, 5 3PM) went off to lead the Trail Blazers over the Spurs, who lost Victor Wembanyama (concussion) midgame, in a 106-103 win.
LeBron James (28 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast) delivered a vintage effort to lead the Lakers over the Rockets 101-94, earning a 2-0 lead.

101-94, behind a vintage effort from LeBron James (28 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast). Marcus Smart (25 pts, 5 3PM) and Luke Kennard (23 pts, 3 3PM) chipped in on their way to victory.
“‘Bron, coaches, they’re just elevating me, telling me to be aggressive,” said Kennard. “(The basket) looks good right now.”
The Lakers, heading back to Houston, were 25-16 on the road this season, while Houston was 30-11 at home.
Kevin Durant (23 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast) was the top scorer fro the Rockets.

91-85 Lakers with 3:00 to go in the fourth quarter, as both teams scrap it out to take Game 2.
The Rockets have taken 16 more shots than the Lakers (84 to 68). The Lakers are shooting better (46% to 38%) in what’s become a physical matchup.

Marcus Smart (17 pts on 6-of-9 shooting, 4 3PM) gave the Lakers a spark in the first half, lifting them to a lead over the Rockets.
“Just staying poised,” said Smart. “It’s going to take a collective effort, and I’m just taking what they give me.”
LeBron James (14 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast) carried the freight for Los Angeles as well, helping an offense that’s gone 10-of-20 (50%) from 3-point range so far.
Kevin Durant (20 pts on 6-of-7 shooting) is the top scorer for the Rockets.

“Basketball’s a game of runs. Basketball gods, always going to reward the ones that play the game right,” said Henderson. “We’ve got to get this next one, got to get this next two. Shout out Rip City.”
Jrue Holiday (16 pts, 9 reb) and Robert Williams III (11 pts, 9 reb) were huge for the Blazers in a game that saw nine ties and nine lead changes.
Victor Wembanyama (5 pts, 4 reb, 1 blk) missed most of the game after banging his head on the floor. Stephon Castle (18 pts) was the lead scorer for San Antonio.

The 76ers shot 19-of-39 (48.7%) from 3-point range, while the Celtics were 13-of-50 (26%). Boston was 0-2 when shooting 25% or worse from deep this season.
Jaylen Brown (36 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast) carried the offense for Boston, with Jayson Tatum (19 pts, 14 reb, 9 ast) the only other Celtic to crack double figures.

The Sixers’ rookie showed ice in his veins, isolating against Payton Pritchard to calmly knock down the difficult shot on the road.
